Response to gunny

Gunny responsed to a comment I made on The Daily Beast. I gave it some thought and want to respond to him here. This is what he said: .”….polarization weakens this country…” “I not sure that’s what’s going on – that is to say I don’t think the polarization is the cause of weakness- I [...]

Beyond 7 Billion

Just want to call attention to this fantastic multi-part series in the LA Times on world population growth. I’m inclined to a road warrior type conclusion. The LAT has a paywall after a couple of articles, i get past it by restarting / resetting my browser when i get the message my number is up.

400 and counting

CO2 levels in the atmosphere have been slowly climbing toward 400 ppm for a good while, and now at long last we’ve finally managed to bump above that level in some locations. geriatric nukes…

… and why we need Al Jazeera. This is in the must-see category. This is just more evidence of the decaying infrastructure that is now epidemic in the US, and there is not the political will to do much of anything about it. The cost of properly maintaining these facilities, and others, is enormous, and [...]

it’s rare, but it does happen …

While the Japanese are still trying, and struggling mightily with all kinds of problems, to mop up the Fukushima mess, the whole business of nuclear power generation goes largely unreported in the US mainstream media. But every once in a while that’s not true, and they do a halfway decent job of raising [...]
